The event was composed of trainings, seminars, and activities that aim to mold the youth to become responsible leaders and productive members of the society. It is the first time for SSC-R to partake in the said convention.

Culminating the event was an election of officers. Camille Anne Lara of IV-St. Augustine was elected as president of YMCA Manila. It was also the first time for the organization to have a president from a private school.

Other delegates who participated in the affair are Luis Ignatius Katapang, Glenniedel Terania (both from II-OLMC), Cheenie Fabro, Gil Ezekiel Senanin and Paul Arvi Reyes (all from III-St. Peter) and Josiah Ramuel Narca from Iv- St. Augustine together with Mr. Edward B. SSC-R High School  Department conducted its first ever Entrepreneurial   Exhibit showcasing interesting business ideas as conceived by the   students of Mr. Ronnel Nicolas, subject area adviser for TLE (Technology   and Livelihood Education).

With a theme “Empowering Sebastinian Youths through Business and   Technology” ,  the event brought into exposure students’ creativity and   innovativeness by making their product ideas transformed into reality   thus, exposing students to real-life experiences,  allowing them to   learn how to manage a small merchandising business, engage  into the   basics of retailing, develop and show entrepreneurial attitudes, skills,   and  show persistence in completing assigned work according to set   standards .

During the three-day fair which opened last December 1,  students manned   their booths, sold and promoted their products.  During its culminating   activity, the fair recognized the following young entrepreneurs through   the indicated awards.

The fair was spearheaded by Mr. Ronnel Nicolas, subject area adviser for   TLE (Technology and Livelihood Education) with the support of TLE   teachers,  Mrs. Ana Marie Dichoso,  Mrs. Fe Mellizo,  Ms. Rodemin Milan   and Mr. Juan Carlos Sarmiento.

Enjoy the morning activities with a program at the quadrangle which   follows after the 7 am mass.  Be inspired by the talks of Atty. Ramon   Victor Alzona, Jr. (PTC President) and Mrs. Cristina Aliwalas (High   School Principal) and get excited by the special numbers from the SSC-R   Dancers and CMLI Delegates from Baguio and have fun with thrilling   parlor games.

Finally, get lucky by taking home some raffle prizes to be given away during the culminating program at the college auditorium.

Representing High School Batch ’83, Jaime Anthony A. Arzadon, M.D., Mr.   Marlo Winner Quinto, and Mr. Jose Carlos de Guia, all had the opportune   time to visit Fr. Cachero and presented the donations in the presence of   Mrs. Cristina Aliwalas , high school principal and few of her staff.

Thankful of the gesture, Fr. Cachero stressed that the school is really   focused on efforts to be academically known.  In fact, it has continued   signing up with GENYO, for its worldwide web based e-learning software   which is being applied to the major subjects in grade school and high   school.

The school is serious in undertakings to upgrade audio-visual facilities   with multi-media and other requirements in order to provide competitive   learning.

SSC-R High School students jampacked the newly painted quadrangle during the annual cheering competition held Nov. 10, 2006.

The first year  bagged the title, Juniors went second, while the Seniors and Sophomores  placed third and fourth respectively.

The winning group was under the tutelage of Mr. Francis Arboleda and Ms.   Editha Nepomuceno as cheering coach and adviser.  Other advisers and   cheering coaches were Mrs. Joyette Galang and Mr. Armand Arboleda (2nd   year), Miss Eden Ibarrola and Ms. Juliet Baltazar (3rd year), and Mrs.   Jho Adriano and Mrs. Mayla Atienza (4th year).

Judges were composed of Ms. Lea Sablayan, Mr.   Allen Galvez, and Ms. Estella Diaz (chairman of the board).  Competing   groups were judged using the following criteria: Choreography (45%),   Cheers and Yell (35%), Props and Costume (5%), and Audience Impact   (15%).

Fr. Nemesio D. Tolentin and Mrs. Cristina Aliwalas handed over the trophies and cash prizes to the winners.

This annual competition aims to perk students with the needed physical   activities (through competition) complementing the school’s love for   sports and athletics.  After all, San Sebastian College-Recoletos,   Manila has been known for its truly holistic approach to full human   development through body, mind, and spirit.
