CMLI Batch ++ Say Yes to Excellence

Selected High School Sebastinians participated in the 56th Annual Convention of Student Leaders and Advisers sponsored by the Children’s Museum and Library Inc. held at Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City last October 22-27.

“SAY YES: Bolstering Passion for Excellence by Raising Standards for Global Competence through the Filipino Youth in Action” bannered this year’s annual convention.The convention aimed to teach the youth their roles in the development of the nation and empower their voices to speak for change.

Distinguished speakers shared their thoughts on being globally competent and at the same time being responsible citizens of the nation.

“Start the change within, you can only change the world for the better if you start looking at yourself. Always say yes to challenges and say no to mediocrity,” said Mr. Jules Guiang, Youth Ambassador of the PTV4 and a student leader from the University of the Philippines, Diliman.

Another goal of the CMLI Annual Con is to hone the potentials of the youth, thus, workshops in different areas of interest were organized. Joshua Dave Ebesate of IV – St. Benedict was awarded Best in Workshop for Journalistic Writing; Chiare Misi Lacap and Daniell Kendrick Africa both from IV – St. Augustine were also awarded Best in Workshop for Modelling, Cocktail and Casual respectively; Kay Perez of IV – St. Augustine was awarded Best in Workshop for the VJ Hosting.

Competitive events were also held to showcase the skills and talents of the delegates from the different participating schools. In the Contest for Entertainment, the Terpsichorean Dance Troupe, composed of Christine Joy Acosta, Celine Villanueva, John Danyael Taguinod and Darrel Maghinang, all from IV – St. Augustine and Heaven Leigh Agriz and Belle Andrea Zoleta both from Grade 9 – St. Peter won First Runner-Up in the Hiphop Dancing. In the Contest for Excellence, Victoria Nicolie Hope Maningas of IV – St. Augustine won First Runner-Up in the News Writing, Filipino Category.

The Awarding Ceremonies, Candle – Lighting Ceremonies, and the Disco Socials concluded the whole Annual Convention.

“Even if the convention was over, plus plus experiences, plus plus lesson, by plus plus I mean being extraordinary and most especially the acquaintances we have gained here should be carried on forever,” said Mr. Lorenzo Relente, President of the Junior Council – National Executive Board 2014.
