SCORES 2014 goes SSCRdC

San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite hosted this year’s Student’s Congress of Recollect Schools(SCORES) with the theme “Recollect Youth: Sent Forth as Witnesses of New Evangelization” held last November 11-15, 2014.

The congress was opened with a Eucharistic Celebration which was followed by the opening ceremonies wherein the 8 participating schools were introduced namely; San Sebastian College Recoletos Manila; San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite; San Pedro Academy (Valencia); Colegio de Sto. Tomas – Recoletos; University of San Jose – Recoletos (Balamban and Basak); Colegio San Nicolas de Tolentino – Recoletos; University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos.

The delegates participated in The Amazing Race primarily to foster familiarity and rapport among delegates and to give them an instant tour to the campus.

The following day, in celebration of Nuestra Señora dela Soledad de Porta Vaga, a Karakol festival paraded around the town showing the cultural dances of Cavite City.

Different Symposiums were also held to further explain the role of recollect youths to evangelization. Ms. Ilsa B. Reyes talked about the “Love Links of Leadership”; Rev. Fr. Nemesio D. Tolentin, OAR, discussed the theme of SCORES 2014; Mr. Daniel C. Bilog lectured on “What Makes a Good Leader”; Rev. Fr. James Dexter R. Tanquis OAR explained how to “Be a Recollect Youth and Be a Witness”

One of the highlights of the 5-day activity was the cultural night, where each school showcased their city’s culture and heritage through a special performance.

The delegates also participated in the outreach program for out-of-school youths sponsored by SSCRdC students and faculty. The host school also staged a mini-concert showcasing their various talents for the entertainment of the delegates.

For the Exposure trip around Cavite City and its neighbouring cities, the delegates were taken to Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine and Island Cove in Cavite City and Sky Ranch inTagaytay City.

Gian Michael Dolina represented SSCR Manila for the delegates’ testimony which marked the end of the congress. Camiller and Mrs. Elisa P. Basa, teacher delegates.
