Although stunned early in the game, staglets still managed to recover and win over Junior Altas with a devastating 29-point lead in their first round match-up last Friday, July 17, 2015 at the San Juan Arena.

Staglets exploded with a 20-0 run to lead 59-38. They [staglets] capitalized on the scrappy play of the altas in the 3rd quarter and made momentum builder steals and field goals.

JB Pelias fired  a back-to-back three pointer to end 3rd quarter, 65-43.

With 8:52 in the final period, a 4-point play was made by Pelias to extend the lead by 24 points.

The squad [staglets] put up menacing defense forcing turnovers from the altas. Staglets finished strong, 87-58.

Staglets led the junior altas 39-36 at the end of a tight first half.

Kobe Canoy led the squad’s scoreboard with 11 points while Patrick Daabay, JB Pelias and Chedric Zulueta each chipped in 10 points.

With their win, Golden Staglets now hold a 2-1 win-loss card.

Staglets were on target as everyone scored during the game and had put the same intensity and discipline that they had displayed in the previous games.

“We were able to hold ourselves defensively, nakita namin the energy was there. They were sharp on the rotations, on the ball. From that, good yung defense namin, we were able to get some confidence to shoot yung baskets namin.Thankfully for the boys, nakikinig sila, very coachable and great group of guys.” Coach Franco Atienza said.
